My dear friend,
Fishing in the Aghanashini estuary is an exciting experience. It is a biodiversity treasure trove; 5000 hectares of intertidal water expanse is home to diverse species of fish and birds in addition to the oysters, crabs, shrimps and bivalves.
Biodiversity: The estuary is a habitat for 13 species of mangroves, 150 fish species, and 120 bird species. It acts as a nursery for fish and prawns, and its mangroves are crucial for carbon sequestration.
Economic Importance: The estuary provides livelihoods for 6,000-7,500 families involved in fishing, aquaculture, salt production, and the collection of bivalves. It is renowned for its annual production of roughly 22,006 tons of edible bivalves.
I am going to spend a lot more time fishing 🎣 and finding the experimental spots for fishing. These could be amazing experience for our guests.
The few times I’ve gone out fishing with the local fishermen, we have had amazing catches – red snappers, yellow pomfrets, barramundi, rawas, pearl spots and many more. The most exciting fish is the Barramundi; strong 💪 and they never give up. You have to exhaust them. It takes while to reel them in.
Fishing on a full moon night is breathtaking experience.
